About the event |
IntroductionProfessor Jan M. van Noortwijk passed away on September 16th, 2008. The Delft University of Technology and HKV Consultants would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Jan's tremendous work in bridging mathematics with problems in civil engineering. We are organising a one-day symposium, to be held in Delft in the Netherlands, during which the latest research advancements and results are to be presented and discussed. The symposium precedes the 7th International Probabilistic Workshop on November 25 and 26, which is a joint organisation of the Delft University of Technology (Section of Hydraulic Engineering at the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences) in Delft and the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (Department of Civil Engineering and Natural Hazards) in Vienna. LocationThe symposium will be held in Delft, the Netherlands. See also the section "Travel and accomodation" below. RegistrationParticipation is free of charge and you may register by sending a request to one of the organizers below. Please mention your full name, your affiliation, country of residence and e-mail address when sending us a request for registration. Organizers and Editors |

Travel and accommodation |
The symposium will be held in a building of TNO in Delft (Brassersplein 2, 2612 CT Delft, the Netherlands; see Google Maps for the exact location: here). This building is approximately 2km outside the city center. We are not offering special rates at any hotels in Delft. You may book a hotel in the center of Delft here. The closest hotel to the symposium is the Hotel Campanile in Delft (see the link). We will most likely arrange some form of transportation on the day of the symposium from the city center in Delft to the TNO building. Delft is easily accessible by train. If you are flying into the Netherlands than you should fly to Schiphol International Airport or Rotterdam Airport. For train schedules, see the website of the Dutch national railways: http://www.ns.nl/. For information on Schiphol Airport, see http://www.schiphol.nl/. |
